By profession, I am a software engineer, technical writer and editor. In the past, I have made my living as a computer trainer, curriculum developer and documentation specialist, database manager, dog trainer, musician, and of course many other things to get through school that were neither illegal, immoral or unethical. : )
I have two horses, Luna, a Paint/Thoroughbred, and Kali, a Percheron/Morgan PMU filly from Canada.
I have one dog, Chica, a Belgian Shepherd cross from the shelter.
I have six cats.
-Chevy, my first kitty, is a large Maine Coon-type torbie who will be 16 in a few months. She got her name from the Chevron gas station where I found her as a tiny little kitten.
-Thomas is a big silver patched tabby who used to be completely wild. I had trapped and fixed every other feral cat within a large radius of my house, and many dogs, but Thomas always evaded it. One day he was badly hurt in a fight. I came outside and he ran right up to me, rubbing against me. After two years, he came to me! I put him in a kennel and got him fixed up and neutered and he has been completely tame since that day.
-Gaia, is a tiny little version of Chevy. They even have the same little orange patch in the same place on the forehead, but Chevy weighs 17 pounds and Gaia weighs almost 6. Gaia was captured in the woods with her two kittens. She was too frail and malnourished to be spayed. We weren't sure she would make it, so I kept her in a kennel in a spare room on a table by the window. She gained a little weight but was still terrified. I started leaving the kennel door open and eventually she ventured out and ran back in. This went on for a long time. I stuck fishing pole toys in the room and sometimes after a while she would run over and swipe at them. After a while I left the door to her room open. The whole process took almost a year, but one day I was working at my desk and felt this soft little thing brush my leg! As soon as I looked at her she took off, but she got a little braver every day and now she sleeps on my pillow and is best friends with Thomas.
-Celeste, Chopper and Jackson are all that's left of my once-large feral colony! I have a knack for taming wild kitties. None will stay wild, so as they became friendly, I placed them in indoor homes. Celeste is a tiny grey and cream tortoiseshell and Chopper and Jackson are her twin black DSH boys. They showed up with her and they were all very wild. She soon delivered a litter and when I trapped the litter I trapped her. They stayed in "the room" until they were weaned and I had her spayed and the babies got new homes. Chopper and Jackson were neutered. They are all tame now, but they live in my barn and sleep in the rafters. They keep Luna company and I am attached to them. They go for walks with me and Chica and it's so cute. They stay right with us, winding in and out of Chica's legs.
Hey! I just saw your comment...funny...of course I will be your friend. Thanks for the compliment on the photo. I get a lot of comments on his ears...one friend calls him big ears. Yea, softball is fun and it's something you can do when your older and not in the shape you were in during HS. I use to play fast pitch and that was so much more fun for me, but I enjoy slow pitch now. I can even hit the ball to right field if I get an outside pitch! LOL I hope you get to play again.
Thank you Corndog! I changed the text to light pink, I'm still learning my new network cotrol panel. And about that chat window, I don't know why there is all those channels that just happened and my Velocity Chat channel dissapeared :( I'll re-code it so it's only for us here chatting about web design, graphics and computer help issues,K?
